GM’s 4.5-liter Duramax Engine for Caddy Could Deliver Performance and Economy.
Apparently, Cadillac is actively considering fitting its smooth, innovative new 4.5L Duramax V-8 turbodiesel into the engine bay of the Cadillac CTS – which would require the raised hood of the CTS-V. continue reading…
It appears as if, once again, the Cadillac STS/DTS (aka DT7) has been pushed back even further – this time, until 2014. Yes, that’s six years from now. GM just cannot afford Cadillac at this time – giving Lincoln the opportunity to move ahead in the luxury automobile market.
Plans for the STS/DTS replacement, the Cadillac DT7, are being reconsidered this month. In other words, the decision as to whether it will be delayed or axed altogether is being made before encountering major engineering costs. If production is to go on, it’ll likely arrive in 2012 as a 2013 model – priced somewhere between $45k and $60k. What do we know so far about the DT7?
It appears as if GM’s first hydrogen fuel cell car, the Cadillac Provoq, may be available for purchase sooner than we thought. The Cadillac Provoq fuel cell concept is the latest example of GM’s groundbreaking E-Flex propulsion system, combining the new fifth-generation fuel cell system and a lithium-ion battery to produce an electrically driven vehicle that uses no petroleum and has no emission other than water. The concept’s fifth-generation fuel cell technology is half the size of its predecessor, yet it has been developed to produce more power and performance.
Reports indicate that the Cadillac SRX, born in 2004, will live on past the 2009 model year. It was apparently decided that a new name for a newly designed crossover utility vehicle was not the right route to take – and we think that’s a good idea. What was original to be named BRX – then CTX – is now, semi-officially, the 2010 Cadillac SRX – which will share it’s platform with the Saab 9-4X (among other GM vehicles).
