cadillac cts coupeDETROIT – Cadillac dealers across the United States are unveiling the all-new 2011 CTS Coupe in their local markets starting today as they host special events for CTS Coupe Premiere Week. One of the most anticipated new models of the year, the CTS Coupe recently began arriving at dealerships.

The CTS Coupe is expected to attract a new generation of luxury sports car enthusiasts to Cadillac and go head-to-head with the BMW 335i Coupe, Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe and Audi A5. “Cadillac is once again ready to compete with the world’s best,” Autoblog wrote in its review of the CTS Coupe.

Almost 300 Cadillac dealers will host events showcasing the new model as part of CTS Coupe Premiere Week. Customers should contact their local Cadillac dealer for more information about the CTS Coupe and details on the event in their area.

The CTS Coupe has been cited by the automotive press for its groundbreaking design and outstanding performance. “It’s safe to say the coupe is positively gorgeous,” Automobile magazine wrote in a review. “Pictures simply don’t do it justice, which is saying quite a bit.”

“The CTS Coupe is one of the most significant automobiles to enter the market this year,” said Kurt McNeil, vice president of Cadillac sales and service. “It represents the new focal point for Cadillac in terms of design and performance. Cadillac and its dealers want to make sure customers are given a chance to get an up-close look at this stunning new vehicle.”

The CTS Coupe extends the CTS line, which has been named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best list for three straight years. It shares design cues with the CTS Sport Sedan, but the CTS Coupe has a wider track, lower roofline and shorter length, giving it an aggressive stance and sleek, athletic profile.

The CTS Coupe starts at $38,990 and comes standard with a 3.6L Direct Injection V6 engine that produces 304 horsepower, six-speed auto tap up/down shifting, rear-park assist and Bose audio. A high-performance CTS-V Coupe model also is available with a 6.2L Supercharged V8 that produces 556 horsepower, dual-mode magnetic ride control suspension and Brembo brakes.

2011 cadillac ctsDETROIT – The 2011 Cadillac CTS received the highest-possible ratings of “Good” in front, side, rear and rollover crash protection tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which recognized CTS as a 2010 Top Safety Pick

“The CTS earns the Institute’s top safety designation with the highest ratings in four demanding crash tests,” said Institute president Adrian Lund. “The tough award criteria also require electronic stability control, a crucial safety feature that can help drivers avoid many crashes altogether.”

The 2011 CTS embodies Cadillac’s commitment to continuous safety before, during and after a crash. Complimenting CTS’s high-strength steel body structure and safety cage are a number of standard features. These include dual-stage driver and passenger front air bags, front seat mounted pelvic / thorax side air bags, roof-rail side curtain airbags covering the front and rear seating rows, reduced force front safety belts with dual pretensioners, front seat active head restraints and the safety and security of OnStar.

“The IIHS Top Safety Pick Award strengthens the reputation of the CTS,” said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac Marketing. “The CTS has not only caught the attention of enthusiasts with its cutting-edge design and dynamic driving experience, but it also continues to be a leader in its class for safety and quality.”

The CTS is among the most highly acclaimed luxury automobiles in the industry. It has been named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best List for three straight years. The CTS also placed in the top 10 of all vehicles in the most recent J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. In July, Cadillac launched the all-new 2011 CTS Coupe, joining the CTS Sport Sedan and CTS Sport Wagon in the CTS line.

The 3.0 liter twin turbo LF3 engine will be making it into the Cadillac SRX for the 2013 model year – which should also include some interior and exterior upgrades. The 2.8 liter will be dropped and the 3.6 liter base engine (non direct injected) will replace it. The twin turbo engine should produce approximately 350 horsepower.

The upcoming XTS, ATS and re-designed CTS should also see these engines for each first model year.

Highest possible “Good” ratings awarded in all Insurance Institute safety tests

DETROIT – The 2010 Cadillac SRX received the highest possible rollover protection rating of “Good” in a recent evaluation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).  This was one of four tests leading to the Institute’s Top Safety Pick Award for all SRX models built after May 2010.

“Car buyers shopping for safety need look no further than vehicles earning the Top Safety Pick designation,” said Institute president Adrian Lund.  “This award means the SRX has elite status for overall crash protection.   The SRX not only affords buyers the best protection in the four most common kinds of crashes, this vehicle also has electronic stability control, a crucial safety feature that can help drivers avoid many crashes altogether.”

The 2010 SRX is designed to protect occupants before, during and after a crash. In addition to a strong body structure and chassis that absorb crash energy, SRX has a number of standard safety features.   These include rollover-capable head curtain side air bags, front seat-mounted pelvic/thorax side air bags, front safety belts with dual pretensioners and the safety and security of OnStar.

“The redesigned SRX has been a phenomenal success for Cadillac since its introduction last year,” said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac Marketing.  “SRX has won over consumers with its bold design and impressive array of features. The IIHS Top Safety Pick Award provides another great reason for luxury crossover buyers to consider SRX.”

SRX continues to be a strong contributor to Cadillac’s sales momentum.  In July, total sales of the model rose almost eightfold, increasing 783 percent and marking the best sales month ever since its original introduction in 2003.

2010 cadillac ctsDETROIT – Cadillac will offer on the 2011 CTS Sport Sedan and CTS Sport Wagon a new 19-inch all-season tire and wheel package that uses carbon fiber in the tire’s sidewall to provide responsive handling in a range of conditions.  Previously, the 19-inch wheels were only available with summer tires on these models.

The 19-inch Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 all-season tire is available on the 3.6-L V6 performance and premium models of the 2011 CTS Sport Sedan and CTS Sport Wagon, which started arriving in dealerships this month. The new 19-inch wheel and all-season tire option has a suggested retail price of $850 over the standard 18-inch wheel.

Cadillac moved to the 19-inch all-season tire to meet the needs of consumers who like the look of a larger wheel but want the versatility of an all-season tire. Summer tires improve traction in warm weather but need to be changed to winter tires during cold weather.

Cadillac engineers tuned the suspension on the 2011 CTS so that performance was maintained while moving to an all-season tire, said Rick Kewley, CTS vehicle performance manager.  “We wanted to expand the audience for the great-looking 19-inch wheel and retain the characteristic ride and handling feel of the CTS,” Kewley said. “The new package delivers on performance.”

Goodyear’s new Eagle RS-A2 builds upon a continuing strong Eagle high-performance tire line.  The tire features a carbon fiber-reinforced sidewall to help support the outer sidewall to keep more rubber on the road for enhanced cornering and maneuvering. The Eagle RS-A2 also has an asymmetric tread design that enhances traction and cornering and creates a quieter ride.
