Cadillac BRX = Cadillac CTX = 2010 Cadillac SRX?
June 1, 2008
Reports indicate that the Cadillac SRX, born in 2004, will live on past the 2009 model year. It was apparently decided that a new name for a newly designed crossover utility vehicle was not the right route to take - and we think that’s a good idea. What was original to be named BRX - then CTX - is now, semi-officially, the 2010 Cadillac SRX - which will share it’s platform with the Saab 9-4X (among other GM vehicles).
The station wagon resembling SRX only made it’s way to about half its projected annual sales. That stigma may leave a bad taste in one’s mouth for the SRX badge - but recent improvements have helped too much to ignore. We can likely expect a first look at the new SRX at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show - and then at dealerships before the end of the year.
This time around, we won’t be seeing a v8 under the hood - no more Northstar. But the 304 horsepower direct injected v6 found in the CTS is a good bet - along a six-speed automatic transmission. A 210 horsepower 2.8 liter v6 will be available as well.
