Cadillac Nixing The Barges
January 22, 2008
So Cadillacs aren’t Cadillacs as I know them anymore. I’m a ‘traditional’ Cadillac enthsuiast. I like big cars that ride on glass - like the Lincoln Town Car or the cancelled Cadillac Fleetwood. I like big, soft, non-supportive, cushy seats - last seen on the Fleetwood Brougham in 1996. Apparently, I’m a dying breed. Today’s Cadillacs are small, stiff-riding high performance luxury “sports” cars - like BMWs. I may not be a big fan, but I have to admit - everybody else is. And this formula seems to be working wonders for Cadillac. I don’t share the same enthusiasm everyone has for BMW - but it’s easy to see how “the ultimate driving machine” can spark interest in the modern-day driving enthusiast. Read more
Cadillac History

Cadillac History
Cadillac is synonymous with Luxury and comfort. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “It’s the Cadillac of the couch world,” or any other world for that matter. Founded in 1902, Cadillac has been a pioneer in the automotive industry.
The Beginnings
The company was founded in August of 1902 by the former backers of the latest Henry Ford automotive venture. When Ford failed, yet again, Henry Leland came in and persuaded the shareholders to try one last venture using Ford’s chassis and a single-cylinder Oldsmobile design. The car was launched in October of 1902, and presented at the New York auto show in 1903. The car was a huge success, assembling a record number of units, and still barely keeping up with demand. Mid-Engined Cadillac XLR Coming Soon?
January 22, 2008
Automotive Web site AutoExtremist.com claims to have inside information that the C7 going midengine is nearly a done deal; a final decision is due next month, it insists. However, talks like this have been going on since the 1960s. Being that the Cadillac XLR is built on the same architecture as the current Corvette, it would make sense that it too would become a mid-engined vehicle. Read more

From Model to Trim Line and Back Again
January 22, 2008
Cadillac is known for their trim levels, there’s no doubt about it. Not only does Cadillac often have a variety of trim levels for each of their vehicles, they often morph into bigger and usually better things. Many trim levels that have been offered during the history started off as actual vehicles and then have been reduced to just trim levels of another vehicle in the Cadillac lineup. On the other hand, the Deville was first a trim level on other Cadillac vehicles and it proved to be so popular that it became its own model. But, that isn’t the end of the story for the name! The Deville trim line that became the Deville model again was changed to the DTS, the Deville Touring Sedan. The Deville has been successful all along, but it has morphed into what it has needed to be as times change and consumers are looking for something new and different. Read more
The Cadillac STS and it’s Competition
January 22, 2008
Cadillac has long been synonymous with quality, style, and reliability but that doesn’t mean that they are alone in the minds of consumers looking for a great vehicle. The STS has some tough competition with some big names as well, names such as Infiniti and Volvo! The STS has two main competitors, the Infiniti M35 and the Volvo S80, both of which are great vehicles, but Cadillac fanatics would contend that the STS is a step above both. Read more
The Cadillac DTS and it’s Competition
January 22, 2008
The Cadillac DTS is considered an exquisite vehicle by most, but it is not without competition. Two of the more prominent competitors of the DTS are the Lincoln Town Car and the Infinity M35, in no particular order. All three of these vehicles are luxurious, stylish, and of high quality so it should be no surprise that they are in competition with one another. Read more
The Cadillac CTS and it’s Competition
January 22, 2008
There is no doubt that the Cadillac CTS Sedan is worthy of the attention, and even the price tag that is carries, but it does have some competition on the market. Many consumers have a hard time deciding what is what and why a Cadillac may be better than the competition, which are the Lexus IS250 and the Chrysler 300, in this case. The CTS may not be better or worse than either of these other vehicles, but there are some differences that may attract some buyers to one car or another. Read more
The Cadillac Escalade and it’s Competition
January 22, 2008
The 2007 Cadillac Escalade is a great vehicle, but it’s not without some serious competition in the minds of consumers. The Cadillac Escalade is a luxury sport utility vehicle that sees most of its competition from the 2006 Lincoln Navigator and the 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL Class. Of course, each of the vehicles has their strong points, but the Cadillac usually comes out looking pretty darn good! Read more
