The Cadillac Provoq fuel cell concept is the latest example of GM’s groundbreaking E-Flex propulsion system, combining the new fifth-generation fuel cell system and a lithium-ion battery to produce an electrically driven vehicle that uses no petroleum and has no emission other than water. New Cadillac Coupe Slated For Production

cadillac ctc cts coupeBeginning in early June of 2009, the Lansing Grand River plant will begin producing between 15,000 and 20,000 units of the new Cadillac CTC, the coupe version of the Cadillac CTS. Technically, “this vehicle really wasn’t supposed to exist”, said Ed Welburn, GM’s vice president of Global Design. But due to the overwhelmingly warm welcome received at the Detroit Auto Show, GMX226 (the vehicle’s code name) will become a reality as a 2010 model. Read more

New, Larger Crossover SUVs on the Horizon?

lincoln mktWhen Lincoln presented the MKT concept at the Detroit Auto Show, it reminded me a little of the past. Remember when they first introduced the Navigator? Cadillac rushed through the design process and gave us little more than a rebadged GMC Yukon Denali. It was smaller than the Navigator, a five-seater, and used the exact same engine with identical performance to the GMC model. The first Cadillac Escalade was a largely unsuccessful endeavor. Northstar Ultra Program Cancelled

Cadillac NorthstarSo, the Northstar is finished. Unless I’m mistaken, Cadillacs in 2010 will have the very last Northstar engines. Cadillac says its because of CAFE - but I’m having some trouble believing that. By 2020, automobile companies must have their average gas consumption for all vehicles at 35 miles per gallon. If a company has too many gas guzzling engines, they’ll never meet that mark. Read more

Cadillac CTS Recognized Again With Second Consecutive EyesOn Design Awards At North American International Auto Show

Cadillac CTC ConceptCadillac was recognized with two EyesOn Design Awards for Design Excellence honors at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The 2009 CTS-V performance sedan captured the production car award and the concept car category honor went to the dramatic CTS Coupe Concept. It was the second straight year the CTS lineup was recognized by the EyesOn Design judges – the 2008 CTS sedan won the production car category at the ’07 NAIAS. Read more

Cadillac CTS Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

CadillacCadillac’s new 2008 CTS sports sedan, already a hit with critics and luxury consumers, today earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick for 2008.The award results from CTS earning the Institute’s highest ratings in front, side and rear crash testing, as well as standard application of Stabilitrak electronic stability control system, which can help drivers avoid crashes. The CTS is one of only three large luxury cars to earn this designation. Read more
